A Journey of Growth and Independence

Time seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. It feels like just yesterday that Nigel and Shannon were starting pre-school, their little hands clutching schoolbags as they stepped into a new world of learning. Now, as they embark on their university journey, they stand on the brink of adulthood, ready to face the challenges and opportunities of their professional lives.

For Shannon, this transition marks a significant step towards independence. Living in a hostel will present new experiences as she takes on the responsibility of managing her daily life—preparing her own meals, doing laundry, and navigating social dynamics with apartment mates. It’s a pivotal moment that reflects not only her growth but also the swift passage of time, as she moves closer to becoming an independent young adult. We don’t get to see her during the week, but we stay in touch via WhatsApp and calls. Despite Singapore’s small size, this arrangement provides her with an invaluable opportunity to gain independence, forge new friendships, and fully immerse herself in the essence of college life.

Our kids are now entering the final stages of their education, and it’s incredible, and a bit daunting, to witness their journey.
