We can all go fast

Some time back, when we were looking at buying a new (resale though) car to replace our previous one which hit the 10-year mark, we did several test drives to check if was sufficient power to lug people and other heavy articles around.

Shannon, like any observant young person, easily pointed out that "every car can go fast", it's just a matter of how hard you need to step on the accelerator. This is quite true, except for our previous 900cc 3-cylinder Toyota Vitz which wasn't made to speed, go up slopes, or transport more than 3 people. 😂 But generally, all modern cars can muster the power to speed ahead when the need arises.

Kids are like stand-up comedians, telling it the way it is. Shannon especially has a keen sense of scrutiny and articulation, which helps her to understand a complex world and break it down into manageable pieces to be interpreted and acted upon.

And there are meaningful insights to be gleaned from her comments. When she says every car can actually go fast, I hope she takes it one step further to mean that we (humans) are like cars. Our engines, however big or small, have all been built with the capacity to accelerate to whatever speed we want to. There are no Ferraris or McLarens, just the pure human spirit and the will to strive. We have to summon the courage and determination to step on our gas pedals to pull ahead - of course, we also need to learn how to use our brakes when needed! 😀
