The COVID years go on and on

The COVID-19 years, initially just one, seem to be flying by and in a few days, we will be welcoming the fourth year of this pandemic. What many thought was only going to plague us for a while seems to have outstayed its welcome.

But 2022 was definitely better than 2021; if I can even recall what 2021 was like. The days and months seem to meld together into a blur of QR code scanning, mask-wearing, ART tests and various measures like having to sit at tables for two, or five.

But all that is behind us now and the only codes I scan now are for menus and health points. I prefer those.

But with other countries still seeming to find it difficult to dig their way out, we should never take things for granted. At least, if nothing else, we must be grateful for what we can now do again, like going on vacations, eating meals with whomever we want, not having to wear a mask and shaking people's hands.

Talking about shaking hands - here's wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from our family to yours! This picture was taken when we sent Nigel off at the airport on his Brunei trip.

So what will 2023 bring? I have a feeling things can only get better - at least on the health front. The economy isn't looking too great though, what with a looming recession, high inflation rates and the potential for layoffs in the technology sector (which applies to me I guess). But I'm always hopeful and plan to keep it that way! 👍😃
