You are Woman
In Genesis, it says that God formed Eve from Adam's rib. He created woman after man - Eve was the improved Adam, sans flaws, upgraded version 2.0. It sounds corny perhaps, but in many aspects, this is true - women tend to be the sophisticated gender, capable of so much more than your basic 1.0 guy. They can be strong in pregnancy, nurturing in mothering, decisive in management. Their ability to look ahead and plan for their family's future dwarfs the short-sightedness of most men who are only looking for their next meal.
Happy International Women's Day to the women in my life! |
I have the privilege of having both female and male children, and although it might not be accurate, or fair, to use them for gender comparisons, this is my blog and I will write whatever I want. 🤣
Maturity and Self Control - All humans are rational and only do things that enrich themselves. However, girls seem to be able to expand their definition of benefit beyond their immediate personal interests. From an early age, they are able to delay gratification and see the bigger picture.
Empathy - Because of their nature-given roles as mothers, the ability to put themselves in another's shoes comes naturally to most women. It is hard to care for others when you're only focused on yourself and cannot feel someone else's emotions. Daughters, in my experience, beginning from a younger age, offer you their food, drink and even opt for lower-priced options on the menu out of love, financial concern, and not wanting their parents to have to go begging. Boys, on the other hand, go for the expensive items and eat up their food without offering a single french-fry. Shannon recently asked me, unprompted, if I felt tired having to wake up early every morning to drive her to school. Her ability to envision another person's (or creature's) perspective will make her a caring and sensitive woman. If we had more women leaders in government and politics, there will be fewer wars, and greater collaboration and partnerships.
Organisation skills - Just as I type this, a female colleague (and I have many in HP) sent out detailed notes after our project meeting. You can always trust a woman to be neat, organised and consistent regardless of the context. In our house, the girls' room is much (much) neater compared to Nigel's - and two of them live there - of course, still room (pun unintended, but retained for effect) for improvement, but you can see that they try. They see the benefit of keeping things tidy and take pride in it. Even in schoolwork, you can tell Amber has natural abilities in basic project/people management and planning skills - something with the boy is still struggling (this word might not be appropriate here as it implies the target is trying to achieve it - the term winging it comes to mind, and the image of frustrated female classmates). The Army awaits.
Shannon had a project where she was paired with a boy. We immediately said she made a mistake choosing the boy as a partner (which she had no control over apparently). I felt quite hypocritical both because we have a son on the other side of the equation, and I too am sometimes that trouble-causing project mate at work. 🤐
I could go on. Women are, I admit, the superior gender. And we are all better because of that. Men, instead of resisting, should watch, learn from, and appreciate the women in our lives.
If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.
