The long tail

The end of year holidays are upon us again. This year, given all the kids are in secondary level and above, it starts even earlier, giving them more than 2 months of absolut nothingness. There are essentially no holiday travel plans this year, meaning we're stuck here. That's good because we save money, but bad as there is nothing really to look forward to.

Looking forward to more family meals together

Looking at things from the perspective of the younger ones in the house, they are definitely looking forward to a few things.

  1. No school
  2. No studying
  3. Doing (almost) anything they want
There was a time when you could convince people to prepare for next year's syllabus, but I think those days are over - in addition, I'm not sure how helpful it is to study for something months ahead of time, especially when you might not have the memory capacity to handle that kind of storage/longevity.

So here we are again, on the cusp of a long break. Luckily for us, we are not in any circuit-breaker/lockdown - so we can pretty much go anywhere, except for nightclubs and discos perhaps.
