Do you work?

It's Labour Day today. Ironically, it's the day to rest from work, but here I am typing this out, and also doing some other stuff, which might (or might not) constitute Labour.

Labour, I believe, used to refer to manual hardship that was done by workers down at the docks, in the factories, in the mines, on the roads. Many still do. But of course, it also includes other kinds of work, including the unpaid and volunteers who dedicate their lives to their families, social causes, the weak and neglected in society and so on. And even more so for these as their work without salary, out of love, passion, and dedication to endeavors which others might brush aside.

Is "work" a bad word? We're in a society where everyone wants to get rich, retire young, relax on a beach somewhere with a margarita. On the other hand, some "brag" about how busy they always are, hardly any time for anything else, even family and friends.

So, which way is it?

If you have the time to think about words to use, type them into a blog and edit it to an acceptable level of grammatical quality, does it mean you're too free? Or you've just made it part of your work?

Next: I want to talk about how we should "give" work to others, and why kids love work!
