People are People

Depeche Mode's song, People are People, says it all. The world has become increasingly divisive recently, instead of progressing into a utopian future of love, togetherness, prosperity, and peace - bigotry, racism, and hate seem to have taken a seat up front on our TV screens, radio, social media and the like. Our children are growing up in such a violent world, seemingly filled with chaos and mindless fighting and killings. They have become numb to pictures of war, dead bodies, and terror.
Give peace a chance, at least for the children.
And it has filtered down to us regular people too - you can tell with the increase of road rage, fights at food courts, incidents on public transport and so on - this anger building up inside us seems to be constantly growing, waiting to explode at the slightest chance. Sometimes people are just wanting to be provoked, to be given a reason to detonate - I know because I sometimes feel it inside me too.

And our children are watching. Will the next generation be equally filled with anger and rage? An inherited feeling of hatred and fury that was unknowingly (or maybe intentionally) passed down from their parents, trying to instill a sense of entitlement, selfishness, and resentment against others? Is this really necessary?

The Bible says that the meek shall inherit the earth, and the peacemakers will be called the children of God. And if you're not the holy type, you should (if you don't already) know that anger is unhealthy. On a personal and professional level too, being friendly and relaxed makes you a much more likable person.

Your kids, your colleagues and friends are watching. God too.
