Generation LOL
Instead of laughing, or giggling, they say "lol" - I mean literally pronouncing it out like "lohl".

This is Generation Internet, and the regular use of acronyms in regular speech and constant need to check WhatsApp is just a few of the hints that things are not like they were during our time. Homework discussions happen over video chat (with multiple people in small boxes) and collaborative project work is done in real-time within single documents using Google drive.
What's amazing is how the kids of the day have just taken to the use of technology, almost like they were born with it in their hands (actually some of them might have had an iPad immediately given to get them to stop crying). There's no fear, confusion or hesitation - it's just "Give it to me and I'll figure it out." Instruction Manual? Never heard of that.
I think there are downsides to the excessive use of tech through - such as social disconnection, an inability to relate or empathise and online addiction. So keep your eye on your young ones and ensure that everything is done within limits. Practice social interactions with them too (i.e. talk to them)!
