Haunted Kids

The CHIJ Katong Convent Primary School 88th Anniversary Carnival is coming up really soon (this Saturday), and one of the popular items will definitely be the Haunted House. At the last carnival (3 years ago), the Haunted House had such a long queue that many had to be turned away at closing time. Many were left disappointed, and even more had nightmares that night as they tried to go to sleep.

Newspapers to keep the sunlight out, and the bad news in.
Why do kids like haunted houses? They don't like to be scared, or do they? "Do ghosts exist Daddy?" "Yes they do, they are the souls of people who have died." "And why didn't they go to heaven?" "Because they died suddenly and they are confused about where they belong. Also, some of them like to hang around carnivals." "Oh, do you think the Haunted House will be crowded?" "With people or ghosts?"

Amber was contemplating earlier this afternoon if she should go, and after I revealed that it is really dark inside (thanks partly to my efforts), smoke machine and strobe lights would be used and there was mention of Meal Worms, she decided not to - or that she would kick and punch the "ghosts" if they try to scare her.

I think I need to go and warn some people.
