My last drop-off (this term)
I haven't really been feeling well these last few days - I caught the runny nose bug and I might have also had a teeny bit of fever. But things look a little better today and I'm sure I'll be back to a hundred percent over the weekend.
I have just returned from my last morning drop-off of the term - sending Amber to school. I forgot to take a picture, so I'll offer a picture of her eating a hamburger instead - like that makes a lot of sense.
The last day of a school term (or year) is always a good time for reflection and I did some of that on my way home. Both Nigel and Shannon are away, in a school dormitory and camp respectively, and all we've had for company for the last 3 days was Amber. So in a way, that makes things a little different - she can be cute and annoying (annoyingly cute?) at the same time and I think she does that on purpose - being the youngest child, she knows she still commands a certain level of adorability and in her own little way, demands that we don't forget by doing things that force us to remember (e.g. walking straight into me head first or meowing like a cat (repeatedly) when asked about homework). Perhaps I can elaborate more in another article. Soon, this little girl too will be gone, replaced by another teenager which we will no longer recognise.
As each school term comes to an end, it's important to hang on to those early morning school drives where sometimes songs are sung, questions are answered with blank stares, music is played at inappropriately loud levels and such. The consolation is that the holiday is just one day away!

There's a new burger joint around here which the kids like. No, it's not a new Burger King. |
