What a fun concert! Being late isn’t always a bad thing
We attended a free concert this afternoon at the Esplanade
and it was really crowded. It’s one
of those that people show up an hour in advance to stand in
line. We only arrived 20 mins ahead of time and ended up at the back of the
queue.
As we finally walked past the ticketing ushers, green stickers were
pasted on our clothing and we were told to head to the “Gallery” – which I have basically never been to. Stalls or Circle? Yes.
Gallery? Maybe the Art Gallery or Viewing Gallery at the Airport. Talking about Circle, I heard this joke once about people going to a concert and having to sit in a Circle, but let's roll that away for the moment.
Turns out this was right behind the orchestra. You know the
part where if you drop your phone down, one of the orchestra players (must be
from the Percussion section, if they don’t get a
Concussion) would have to pick it up and throw it back up to you? Yes, that’s the part. We would even read the
music scores and tell what key the songs were in.
We weren't sure if we were the Audience or part of the Performance. |
Turns out, being (slightly) late sometimes has its advantages! However, I'm not slightly deaf from the rather loud percussion section.
Note: Midway through the concert it crossed mu mind to try to do the Mexican Wave - but I doubt anyone else in the Gallery section would have joined me.
