Our holiday so far
The secret is to get them to swim out far enough beyond the other people |
The snorkeling wasn't as great as our last trip to Phi Phi Island many years ago (Amber didn't snorkel that time), but it was still great fun for all of us.
At this age, they don't really need to see eels, barracuda or sharks (in fact they explicitly said they rather not), but even a simple sea urchin or puffer fish would get they all excited and pointing - and you can hear them talking and shouting through their snorkels, which really isn't the best way to communicate.
We've already did white-water rafting, ATV, kayaking, tubing in a river and drinking mocktails in the hotel pool bar, so we've more or less achieved what we set out to do. End of the day, it really comes down to the memories you make, the conversations you have, the laughter you share. Holidays are for taking time off from the busyness of work and school to come together as a family, even if you are just sitting around playing cards or splashing water at each others faces, it all counts and will all get recalled one day in the distant future as a fun time we spent bonding as a family.
So as they say, Happy Holidays!
