Wait

Nigel, many years ago, riding on a Lego bike.
Our kids have a standard, but simple answer to everything you ask them to do. Wait.

Go and bathe.
Wait.

Go and finish up your homework.
Wait.

Go and play Xbox.
Wai … er … OK!

They think that the whole world is at their beck and call and life will wait for them while they take their time to do whatever they are currently doing. For example digging their toenails, sending a WhatsApp message or just
daydreaming.

I don’t think people are born with a sense of urgency. I guess nature has put into us a sense of ease. Evolution has made us all slow in our bid to gradually transform into better humans with better and more useful capabilities.

In the meantime, our parents have to wait.
