Being Married
Moustache hold this for much longer? Beard we only just begun! |
As you might know, Celest and I recently celebrated our 15th
Anniversary. And if you add the extra 7 years from before that, we’ve known
each other for twenty-two years. Coincidentally, that’s ½ my age, isn’t that
amazing? I’ve literally known her for half my life.
Was I the marrying kind? Are any of us the marrying kind?
What does “marrying kind” mean? I think the question is - do you have the
character of someone who is ready to find that special someone, stick to her
and commit to a lifelong relationship. Science says that humans, like most
mammals, are naturally polygamous – meaning it is not natural for us as a
species to have a single mate for our entire lives.
So essentially, to make your marriage work until death do you
part, you need to work on it. Given how “unnatural” science says it is, you
need to put in an “unnatural” amount of effort to keep the flame lighted. Fight
for it, create opportunities to spend time together, even if it is just walking
to the nearby coffee shop for kopi-O.
So here I am, fifteen years in and trying to sound like an
expert. Let’s be honest, nobody is an expert at these things anyway, so I can
say what I want. LOL.
