The Google Generation and the Deteriorating Brain-cells
You don't need to Google "fun" - you just have it! |
Kids these days have terrible memory. The older they get,
the worse it becomes. By the time they hit 15, most goldfish would do better.
Practically nothing sticks in their mind and you need to tell them at least ten times
before they do something (e.g. take a shower, clean up the room) – but I could
be mistaking deafness for forgetfulness.
While doing homework, a teen must have their mobile phone or
PC open. Somehow textbooks have gone extinct, and taking
down notes during lessons is not cool. So Google is your reference book – which, as
you know, is not necessarily a good thing. I’ve had to remind my teen that
during exams, he would not be able to do an Internet search (and they will not
allow him to bring in his Bluetooth speaker to play background rap music) – to which his
reply is, “that’s why I’m doing all my searches now, so that I will remember
during exams”.
To which my reply is “yah, right!"
"Perhaps you should Google this - go brush your teeth, change to your pajamas and go to bed."
