Homework Havoc

Nigel didn't win all these trophies.
For some reason, once the kids went back to school this year, the level of homework seemed to escalate tremendously. The previous 2-3 pages of work has become 20-30 pages (on some days, this is almost true) - and seems to be never-ending. For example, when Shannon finishes with one subject, she goes to her bag and pulls out another stack for another topic. And the clock on the wall would read 10pm.

It doesn't help that Nigel's CCA sometimes causes him to come home close to 8pm. Or the girls spend some afternoons at their own CCA, and evens at ballet class.

So anyway, am I complaining? I guess not.

Such is the life of a child these days - unfortunately in order to excel - both at studies and life, you have to put in the hours. Many people would ask, but what about their childhood?

Well, if they enjoy themselves - yes, it is possible to enjoy yourself while running, dancing and studying, then there you go. You do have a happy and meaningful childhood. And you sprinkle some time-with-mum-and-dad stardust (e.g. cycling, swimming, having meals together), I think they will do just fine.

But not everyone will agree.
