Conciousness and Experience

I've been reading some books and apparently, everyone has their own consciousness - meaning at any one time, they have their own set of experiences and perceptions of the current environment. This is true even for children - now what do you think about that?

And how one perceives the current environment (i.e. feels) not only depends on what is actually currently going on, but is also significantly affected by one's past experience. Which is why kids are always excited about the simplest things - because it is probably the first (or one of the first few) time they are doing a particular activity.

I try to think about it each time we going out as a family and do something - each one of us, although participating and doing something together, would have a completely different take of what is going on. Although I might be feeling tired, grumpy, hot - the children would probably be having a ball of a time and enjoying themselves completely - so I try not to dampen their mood. Instead, I attempt to literally see things through their eyes and throw myself (not literally in this case) into the fun they are having.

Kids are only kids for a while - and then they will become like you. Tired and grumpy. So don't give up!
