50 years young!

Group-selfie this morning at 7a,
Singapore turned FIFTY old today.

We managed to get tickets to the ceremony in Bedok this morning and we joined in another two-thousand (I think) residents who stay in the area to form the shape of the island on the field while a drone flew overhead taking pictures.

Then, we said the pledge and sang the National Anthem at 9am to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our founding father's declaration of independence from Malaysia.

Our kids are at the age where they are aware of our country, our achievements, our history. They can be proud of how far our little red dot has come, what it all means. Most importantly, they can feel that emotion of belonging to a nation, a family.

Amber and Shannon sing our songs loud and proud (Nigel still too shy) and I know they feel that pride, maybe even having to hold back a tear or two.

Singapore, don't let anyone tell you that 50 is old. In fact, if you look around, you're looking younger and younger everyday!

Happy Birthday to you.
