Hot and Swampy

This looks like a scene from one of my swampy nightmares

The (hot and humid) holidays are upon us and what better way to spend it then to go walking in the jungle amid the mosquitoes, mud-skippers and crocodiles.

We recently took a trip to Sungei Buloh to find those menacing crocodiles which were recently in the news.

The moment we arrived, it started to pour like crazy. So we were stuck in the air-conditioned and cool visitor center - not what we wanted to do, but the kids had fun looking at the pictures, reading the facts and playing computer games on the terminals. Also, I printed out some worksheets (yes, I'm that kind of parent) which they easily found the answers to - Hey! It was like a school learning journey with two real-life parent volunteers!

After the rain cleared, the mist came down and we walked through the jungle keeping our eyes out for crocodiles, snakes, spiders and other creepy crawlies. To be honest, we didn't see much except for a bunch of really fat mud-skippers having a mud-fight.

I think all the other animals ran away when they heard the incessant singing of some irritating Bruno Mars' song.
