Amber booked a date with me!
Amber and I got to spend some time together |
Shannon did highlight to me the word "Book" in the title and she turned out to be right, there were books involved and it was about reading. They could have named it "Read to Your Daughter", but I guess the turnout might not have been as good.
There were many childrens books around so we grabbed a few and we spent more than an hour reading them, while also munching on some snacks and sitting on picnic mats which were all provided (in an air-conditioned hall!).
Amber, being the youngest, is a bit unfortunate. She didn't get read to much as a baby and toddler. You know how it is, the first-born gets all the attention, the best clothes, food, toys while the kids that come later get the hand-me-downs and also lesser attention than they deserve.
She loves to be read to and also to read - like all children I believe (until they get introduced to the iPad). I make it interesting when reading to her by putting on different voices and purposely misreading some words so she gets to correct me. I tend to overdo it sometimes and she gets really annoyed - but that's part of the fun that we get up to while reading. But I admit, it is disruptive to the storyline.
Very very soon she'll be reading everything on her own and I wouldn't have to read to anyone, so tomorrow, I promise I will read her a book and annoy the fairy wings out of her ;)
