My recess companion

A few days ago, I had the pleasant opportunity to have recess with my little girl in school.
Amber enjoying a "half cup sweet corn".
Celest and I were helping out at an event and Amber came to find me and pull me aside to eat with her. I'm not sure what happened to her friends, or if she even has regular "recess-kaki".

So I accompanied her to get her favourite "half-cup sweet corn" which costs 50 cents. She gingerly gave the Uncle a dollar coin and then patiently waited for the change and cup. She then led me to a nearby table to sit.

I thought to myself - what a pleasure and delight it was to be able to sit down with my daughter during her recess time in the school canteen, to have a short chat and laugh about things. It was truly a rare occasion to be cherished.

All too soon the bell rang and she had to leave to the assembly area to gather with her classmates. And I had to finish up the last two spoonfuls of sweet corn and watch as she skipped off and disappeared into a sea of blue and white.
