You're an introvert

Nigel is basically an introvert, and I had to spend some time explaining to him what introverts and extroverts. I put in considerable effort to ensure he understood that neither was better, and that people were more or less born with a certain characteristic making them more outgoing or inward looking. He insisted he wasn't an introvert - but being an introvert myself when I was in primary school, I recognise many of the traits:

  • Not part of a gang/bunch
  • Just 1 or 2 good friends
  • A bit of hesitation when attending large events like Sports Day etc.

I told him that people can change as they grow and one day he might develop a different character. In the mean time, be happy being who you are.
