The 3 of us

Because of Celest's accident on our Korean ski holiday, and her early return to Singapore for treatment, I was left in Korea for an extra 3 days with Nigel and Shannon. Amber was taken back on an earlier flight with mum and dad - which I think she didn't really mind as she ended up with her own personal holiday to Gong Gong and Mama's house.

I was initially worried about 1) looking after them in a foreign land and 2) how to keep them entertained on my own for 3 days and 3) how to transport them from the hotel to the city to the airport and to Singapore without getting any injured or missing.

Turns out it was quite simple.

1) Keep them in-front of me at all times and ignore all forms of irritation (especially from them) which would serve as a form of distraction. Keep a cool head and think logically at all times.

2) Learn card games and order food that they enjoy to eat. Some simple card games (like Old Maid and Go Fish) are actually very entertaining and intellectually stimulating, and way better than watching TV. We also went skiing a couple of times - after all, we were surrounded by snow, slopes and people having fun.

3) Transportation was quite easy. Plan ahead, stick to the plan, kick asses where needed to ensure we didn't miss the bus. Once on the bus/train, sit down, be calm and keep eyes open. Bring snacks along too. Also, go to the toilet whenever there is one located conveniently nearby.

We got back safely and I had 3 days of bonding with the kids.

The picture above was taken after an afternoon of skiing. We were indoors at the ski shop but the kids were still freezing - we were waiting for the hand warmer packs to kick in, which they never did!
