The rude child

Children these days have no respect. Not for their elders or parents.

I'm not sure if it's the high protein milk powder, the American cartoons they watch or the progressive social studies lessons they are taught in school. Whatever it is, they are questioning your rules, ignoring your requests and more often then not, just saying "NO!". Under certain situations, this would be good - for example when facing a potential kidnapper or threatened to be eaten up by a wild tiger. But maybe they missed the second part of the lesson when the teacher explained the asterisk* pointing to the fine print at the bottom of the text which read *this does not apply to your parents, to whom you have to obey and comply with all their instructions.

Is this part of the education ministry's effort to grow more independent-thinking, entrepreneurial-spirited, risk-taking youngsters. Risk-taking, for sure, is something that they are doing as each time they refuse to listen and follow orders in the house - the risk being the stick hitting them on the backside. But that's a risk that they always seem to be willing to take.

I'm hoping all this nonsense pays off and we have self-made, albeit ill-disciplined, business-people in the making.
