Getting to know you - Part 3: Holding Hands

When the children just started learning how to walk, they had to hold your hand for balance. As they grew older, you held theirs so they wouldn't get lost in the crowd.

But somehow as they grow older, there might be a sense of awkwardness that starts and you might feel like pushing them away when they try to hold your hands.

Nigel still likes to hold my hand and although I tend to want to let go, I remind myself that this little boy used to go running off in different directions if I didn't hold him tight. I need to continue to cherish these moments while he still wants to hold my hand and be close to me, like daddy's little boy.

That physical connection is something we Asians tends to forget. So hold your child's hand for as long they would let you. It's ok - never let them get lost in the crowd.
