Day 4 - She's back, but not yet

I realise I forgot to wrote this - well, not really forgot, but since Celest came back, I didn't feel as compelled to finish writing about my last day.

And now that it's been a week, I have completely forgot what I did!

Let me recall by looking thru my Facebook pictures.

Ahh, it's coming back to me! So I signed Nigel and Shannon up for this robot class at the nearby CC. Not really the electronic/computer robots that you have in mind, but robots made from ice-cream sticks and coloured paper - like the dinosaurs that you see here. They animate using air pressure which is applied using syringes  - a bit outdated, but easy to understand and doesn't require batteries. They spent 3 hours at the CC in a cool cosy aircon room while Amber and I were cycling away in the heat at the East Coast Park.

Well, it was a good chance for me to help her to polish up her cycling skills - which are still not really 100%. She can cycle forward (backwards not yet, but I'm thinking it's not necessary anyway) but can't start-off on her own - a bit like a car that needs a push for a jumpstart each time. So the trick for her is to just, don't stop. Keep on moving and you'll be fine, I tell her.

That evening, Shannon's favourite (and only) Godpa invited us over for dinner and to watch Ninja Warrior - which is something you can describe as hardcore Wipe-out with serious Japanese commentary but no funny sound effects. It's a show you can't watching without feeling you need to rush to the nearest gym to work out.

The kids lazed around enjoying the show, knowing that their mother would be back in several hours.

At the end of the 4 days without Mummy, it was proven that Daddy can be fun too and that nobody has to get hurt or killed. In fact, we had so much fun that the house was in a big mess, there were some ants crawling on the floor and the pile of dirty clothes reached up to waist level.
