Day 1 with Celest Away
So Celest left the house at 5am this morning. Her friend came over in a cab to pick her on the way to the airport to get on a ridiculously early flight to Hong Kong. Last thing I did for her was to unlock the car from our window so she could go grab her sunglasses. And then it was off to Changi - but not before I locked the car.
She sent me a couple of Whatsapp messages at around 6.45am, bragging about how she managed to get a free upgrade to business class and that her seat was so big that she could not see her friend sitting next to her. Check out the picture she uploaded on Facebook - what a showoff!! Hmmph!
The kids woke up at around 8.45am - knowing that mummy was not around. They sent Amber into my room to make sure I was there and I'm pretty sure I heard a collective sigh of relief coming from their room.
Mornings are always the rush! Not in a good way. So here I was rushing around, getting the toothpaste on the toothbrushes, warming up the leftover KFC, brushing my own teeth, surfing the web on my phone, while the three jokers were lazing around in their beds even after I'd shouted at them to get up 200 times. Each time, it looked like they are getting up, I walk away to do something else, and when I returned to check, they are lying down again, albeit 10 cm closer to the door. It's a good thing their room is rather small.
So we finished eating fried chicken, and I tried my best to clean up the chicken crumbs on the table, chairs and floor - although I'm sure there are still some left behind. Nevermind, Celest will find them when she returns on Wednesday night. :)
We are inevitably late for church - good thing Fred and Bihye saved us some seats in front of them! Attending Mass with the kids is completely non-religious, instead it's more like going to a coffeeshop where friends around you are chatting, discussing, joking away.
We had lunch together, using up a last Groupon I had. Which is good, because I'm getting a bit tired of pasta and pizza. See the picture of us below where Nigel looks like he's in pain, but is actually enjoying his food. Maybe he's just upset that I interrupted his meal of clam-filled pasta - also known as Vongole. Amber, on the other hand, is flexing her muscles.
The day ended with a refreshing swim and dinner downstairs at the cafeteria. Although nobody was seriously injured, the flying tennis ball did hit several of us on the head and shoulders - which reminds me that I have not washed my hair yet.
Tomorrow is the start of their Chinese enrichment class - which means scurrying out of the house at 9am every morning with breakfast in bags, Chinese files dragging on the floor and yelling and screaming to hurry up with the shoes and socks. In the midst of it, I'm sure I'll lose something, but it could just be my mind.
