Renewing our vows to the family
We attended a Milestone Marriage Mass service on Tuesday which was organised by the Marriage Encounter team. Their aim was to celebrate couples who have been together for various lengths of times, from 5 all the way to 60. Maybe more.
The children attended with us and it was as close as it go to them attending our wedding. The significance for them, I guess, was to watch us recommitting ourselves to each other as we did on the day we were wed, when they weren't there. And the tying of the knot, so to speak, doesn't happen once and that's it. Occasionally the knot needs to be tightened because as you know, when you wear your shoes around, the laces are bound to come loose.
