Bringing home the results
I found this note attached to Nigel's CA1 exam results very touching, frank and a real reminder that children should be loved regardless of how well they do in their schoolwork. It encourages us to think back to when we were at that age and had to tremble in fear when we had to take our report cards home to our parents - oh how dreadful that feeling could be, the fear of getting scolded, caned and so on.
I believe children need to be guided but also inspired. They need to be told what to do, but given the right context and reasons, even though they might be too young to understand. This contrasts to the previous generation where we were told what to do, or else. The children of the millennium have somehow become more mature for their age, intelligent beyond their years and require a more honest and open way of instruction. Not sure if it's a good thing.
