Our little girlies
In-spite (and sometime I would say because) of their whiny, sulky ways, girls have a way of melting hearts. They know how to smile, charm and sweet talk their way into getting things their way - be it getting carried, claiming sweets or just disrupting your work by climbing on to your lap. To me, just being called "Daddy" by our little princesses makes me go soft - knowing that I am the man they look up to and am the one that they will model their adult relationships on makes me feel responsible for their safety and emotional well-being.
I am ready to open the door to any young man who comes a-knocking - armed with a gun and (ok, no guns in Singapore) a look of terror in my eye: "Dude, I've got my eye on you".
Until then, these little darlings are meant to be cradled in our arms and be as girly and whiny (let's not go overboard here) as they like. They are Daddy's (and Mummy's) Little Girls.
Wee Meng, thanks for Bringing Up Girls.
