45 and lighting up the sky
We brought the kids to "watch" the parade twice. Once during the preview and again on the real day.
We saw the planes roar through the skies and between the buildings, the soldiers march to the beat of the brass bands, the tanks rumble down the street and of course, to top things off, the fireworks.
It's was all really just to impress onto Nigel and Shannon the pride that we should have in our nation. That we are firm and committed in our ability to protect our shores and are not shy to light up the sky in celebration of our independence day. Amber on the other hand, was terrified of the loud jets and was initially afraid of the fireworks. She got used to it the second time round pretty quickly though.
This year, with the Marina Bay fully opened up, the audience had an all-round viewing experience where you can literally see the fireworks from anywhere around the water's edge. I'll take the kids there for a nice walk around the bay - need to get those lazy bums moving, but we might need a brass band of our own.
