Striving for excellence
This world is all about striving for the best, going all out to prove
yourself, being all that you can be.
What about being average?
Gunning for that middle spot? Just passing? What's wrong with that?
It's always aim high because if you aim low you will end up at
the bottom of the pack - and that is something you probably don't want.
But
striving for excellence is tiring, draining, and is something you can
only do for a fixed period of time before your mind, body, sanity gives
way and you come crumbling down from all that internal pressure of
having to perform, be at your finest and so on. It is really exhausting
and potentially disappointing when you have to constantly tell yourself
you have to do better.
So I say, aim to be average, but not
below. Be happy with what you are and give it your best shot if you can.
But don't kill yourself over it.
But don't tell the kids that I
said that.
