My wedding crasher

I attended a friend's wedding on Saturday and although there was a lot of conversations going on, mine was mostly on the phone.

Shannon kept calling me.

She has my number memorized and the phone at Mama's house is so accessible that she just continuously picked it up and kept calling me every 5 mins - it was cute for a start, but to be honest, became slightly irritating after a while. But anyway, she is my daughter and she wanted to speak to me. In the future it is going to be some boy and I would be vying for her attention - so I have to remember to treasure and cherish these moments.

She asked me where I was, who I was sitting with, what their names were and so on. Then she made me tell my friend sitting next to me the names for my children, "Daddy, tell your friend 'my children's names are Nigel, Shannon and Amber' and she made me do it now so she could hear it". She wanted to know what I was eating, who was speaking on the microphone and what the bride was wearing - she's one curious little girl. She also gave me a running commentry of what was going on in Mama's place. And she refused to let me hang up.

I did find a way to put the phone down though, even if it was just for 5 minutes till she called me back again. I would just say that I wanted to speak to Nigel and she would gladly put him to the phone. I'd ask him a few questions and then say that I would call back later, which he had no objections with, and then he would proceed to hang up the phone.

Already you can tell who the more talkative person is going to be. Well, girls will be girls, and I'm hoping for more disruptive phone calls from my little girl(s) in the future - just not while I'm in a meeting, that's all I ask :)

Thanks Shannon for making my night extra exciting and for reminding me that I had my little daughter thinking about me. :)
