Note for parents: Holiday Success Metrics
When you have children, how you define the success of a vacation is quite different from if you went as adults.
It's no longer about if you had fun - it's if they had fun.
A truly successful holiday is if the children had fun, are slightly sunburnt, are so tired that they sleep for days and days after they come back. The parents on the other did absolutely nothing except chase them around, make sure they don't drown or get kidnapped by foreign terrorist groups and are, as a result, so tired they sleep for days and days after they come back - unless of course you don't have enough leave in which case you can only smile when your boss says "now that you've had a nice holiday and you're all fresh and recharged here's some extra work ..."
There you have it - the truth about taking children on a holiday! Well, at the end of the day, it's all about spending time with the family!
