A miracle today
It was a miracle earlier when we were going out.
For some reason, Shannon was holding on to the centre pillar between the front and rear car doors when I closed the front one catching her hand between the car and door frame. I didn't know what happened; she looked at me and went "Daddy.". And I put the full-stop there on purpose as she was not screaming, raising her voice or yelling in pain. When I realised what I did, I immediately opened the door and that's when she started crying.
There was a light mark across her fingers, but no bruise, no cuts and definitely no broken bones. Within 3 mins the sobbing stopped and she was singing again. Her hand looked and worked fine too.
For me, 3 hours later, I was still thinking about the incident. I could so easily have broken my little girl's small fingers by being careless. I'm not sure if the designers of the car thought about this, but that small little gap with a rubber strip sure did the trick and saved Shannon from a bruised or broken hand. Surely this has to be a miracle of sorts and we thanked God together before we slept.
It'll take me a short while more to stop thinking about this and start paying attention to little things that could result in big consequences. We love our children and, like all parents, would not want anything to happen to them. :)
