The Father's Day Phenomenon

Mothers always get those nice art and craft cards, drawings and stuff from school. Creatively decorated, coloured paper with crooked wordings, glued to big heart-shaped cardboards. They get songs in school, dance presentations and meals made for them.

Fathers on the other hand. Zilch. Why? Because Fathers' Day falls during the school holidays. Every damn year, without fail. It's not fair - in fact it hurts, cuts through my heart and makes me feel so depressed that it will continue to haunt me the whole day.The pain, the agony, only a video can describe it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining - just commenting. The upside is that we can do more during the holiday and that gives us more flexibility to enjoy ourselves and plan activities. Maybe a picnic later?

Happy Fathers' Day to all the dads out there, old dads, new dads, dads to be, dads in be in the future, big daddies, small daddies, medium-sized daddies and any other type I missed out. Happy Fathers' Day to mummies too, because sometimes you have the play the role of daddies when we are not around, working, sleeping or in the toilet.
