Caution, Primary School ahead
It's almost the end of term 2 and the month-long school holidays are soon to be upon us.
But what's even more exciting (in a way) is that we have to register Nigel for Primary 1 in July - and that's just over a month away. We're are on the brink of a new phase of life, both for the (unsuspecting) small boy and for ourselves - having a primary school going child in our family. Celest is stressed, I'm thrilled - it's either one of us is not in the right mind, or both of us are bonkers. Nigel is as excited as can be - and he's going around asking all his K2 friends which school they are going to, making a mental note of how many are joining him in the same school. He finds his kindergarten homework fun and enjoyable, and we're hoping it stays that way - stranger things have happened.
To be honest, both Celest and I think that Nigel is quite smart. But then again, he's the eldest and we don't have anyone to compare against - so it could be biased opinion, or a halo effect, or maybe he's just really quite intelligent. Well, he's been doing quite well so far and even manages to score full marks on his Chinese spelling (Ding Xie) quite regularly (after coaching from Celest). So bottom line is, I think he wouldn't have much trouble learning new things. Fingers crossed.
Come to think of it, it really is quite stressful. Celest might be on to something here. But it's good to know that parents everywhere, not just Singapore, have to go through this every year. So, we're just participating in the circle oflife education.
