What makes my blood boil
When dealing with these little monsters, the thing that really makes my blood boil is that 2-3 seconds between me issuing an instruction and them complying. It could be a request to do something, stop doing something, or just a simple question.
In that short span of time, I go from thinking "did you hear me" to "stop ignoring me" to "you are outright ignoring me".
I'm not sure which one it is. It's either that their brains are still processing the command (given that their sense of hearing, information processing etc. are still somewhat under-developed) or they are testing your limits and exercising their sense of freedom and ability to choose. And choose what? To ignore you.
After 3 seconds, it's basically repeating the command again louder or bringing in backup help (in the form of a cane). The cane typically resulting in an almost immediate response.
