Observation: The new trend of Ang Moh kids speaking Singlish

This globalisation thing is working the other way round now. We used to gripe about how a Singaporean starts speaking with a slang once they go overseas to study, that was many years ago when kids going abroad was a relatively "new" thing - heck, even I've picked up the accent just by speaking on the phone (many hours) with Americans.

However, I've noticed (just by listening and then turning my head later) that an increasing number of foreign blonde-haired children now sound exactly like locals, probably to their parents dismay. I guess many expat parents try to prevent this by sending their kids to international schools, but it's futile. Once you're in a country, you cannot shut-out the core fabric of its society, including language dialects and accents.

Basically, be prepared for more mismatched audio/video scenes and double-takes.
