Time to learn Chinese
In our family, we have a tradition for being not-so-good in Chinese. That is a tradition we don't really want to hand down to the children - however, given that we hardly speak Mandarin at home, it'll probably be the case.
So what we've done is sent both Nigel and Shannon for extra Chinese lessons at the Tien Hsia Chinese school in Simei. Nigel started last year and we just enrolled Shannon 2 weeks ago - so she can be with her Ge-Ge (albeit in a different class) and also get an early start to her 2nd language education.
She's learnt a couple of words o far and things are looking good. However, I think the practising at home part also plays a big role and Celest is trying to spend more time speaking to them in Chinese, which is tough for both mother and child :)
