Nightly conversations

When babies are just born, they can't really interact with you. You'll stare at them, make funny noises and most of the time, you'll either get a blank stare or a loud wail.

They are somewhat like robots without the necessary programming. Memory chips are blank and the source code is not yet in place.

And then gradually the bits all fall into place - but nobody does the "development work". It's all self-organising and self-learning neural networks that program themselves.

Next thing you know, these "robots" learn to interact among themselves and you have to come out and tell them to keep quiet and go to sleep.
