Christmas is for kids

Besides the religious meaning of Christmas for us to celebrate the birth of Christ, the rest of Christmas is really for kids.

Presents? For kids. Shows at malls? For kids. Flashing Christmas trees? For kids. Santa Claus and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer? For kids.

That explains why Christmas is always the busiest time of the year for parents who have to run around buying presents, not just for their own offspring but for children of friends. Don't get me wrong, it's all good. Just that it's busy busy.

For example, we were debating putting up the Christmas tree - and it boiled down to "of course! For the kids!". I try to look through their young eyes and view the world from their shoes. Life for the young is about fun, family, play and basically collecting great memories. And what would Christmas be without all those elements.

I guess Christmas is one of those times of the year when you really get together as a family and celebrate the baby Jesus, and at the same time look back on what a wonderful year it was.
