In boiling water

As you know, besides 777 couples (isn't that strange?) getting married on 7.7.07, it was also Live Earth.

Live Earth - a call to change our habits to reflect our awareness and willingness to take action to fight global warming and save our planet. In my opinion, it's not radical changes that each of us individuals need to make, but small little steps that should permeate into our lifestyles and mindsets.

These might include the following:
  • Driving less - plan routes and take public transport if possible. If high petrol prices won't deter us, then we need to stop ourselves.
  • Using less electricity - make a concious effort to turn off appliances, lights, fans, air-conditioners when they are not used or needed.
  • Cut down on disposable - e.g. cups, plates. Some stores I notice still insist on using disposable cutlery even when eating there - either tell them to change or do not patronise them (i.e. punish bad behaviour). The other way is to eat home or eat there (i.e. at the coffee shop, to reduce packing material)
  • And of course, take less plastic bags. If you can carry it by hand, or stuff it into your other bag, then do it. Our planet is worth suffering a bit for. Or just don't buy and come back later with your own bags.
Like I said, nothing radical, just some minor change in habits.

It's a cliché, but it's worth repeating. Let's make sure that our children and their children have something worth living for and can still enjoy the wonders of nature.
