Bad Dreams
Kids dream - and they have bad dreams. Well, at least Nigel does.
His big complaint (and fear) now is that he has "bad dreams" at night and actually doesn't want to sleep because of these. He often comes walking into our room at night saying he had a bad dream and wants to sleep with us - but Celest always sends him back out.
There was once when had to say a little prayer with him, after which he felt better and went to sleep rather quickly. He was tired but was just afraid of dreaming.
We're not quite sure what his nightmares are about - if they involve monsters and Swiper or other things. We do need to sit down and have a chat with him, but at the same time tell him that it's normal. Celest tells him that naughty children have bad dreams - but it doesn't stop him from being naughty, darn.
One side-effect of a maturing mind with ever greater intelligence and awareness of life is the added responsibility (or burden perhaps) of dealing with conciousness, even while sleeping.
It's funny how he thought that Celest and I don't dream, mainly because we don't tell him about it.
We've yet to hear about Shannon having bad dreams - I wonder if it's because she doesn't dream (which I'm sure is not the case) or she hasn't formed the notions of "good" and "bad" yet - her sense of fear has not yet been developed. The joy of innocence.
