Why is Nigel so naughty?

Nigel seems to be getting naughtier and naughtier as the days go by. Why is this so?

One moment he is an angel - behaving well and talking nicely to everyone. Next moment he's a screaming maniac, throwing things, hitting people and pulling out chinese new year ornament.

Celest has a theory which I don't quite agree with: She says he's trying to be a small baby again because he thinks that as a small baby (e.g. like Shannon or Gabriel) he can get away with anything. His reaction to some things sometimes gets me worried as it seems he has lost his sense of character, he willingness to try to behave like a proper person and goes into some sort of fits of insanity. He also gets rude and shouts at people with little to no respect for authority.

Is this how typical 3-4 year-olds behave? I'm starting to think so.

The picture is of Nigel showing his bruised and cut elbow after he tripped over Fred's leg while running on the road. He was trying to stop his grandfather from stepping over a chain at East Coast Park as we headed to the car after ice-cream.
