Paris Pride

Just saw a play last night that was put up by the youth in our church, it was titled Silent Night and based on the fashion business - which apparently is full of back-stabbing, money-chasing and power-tripping; things that are all associated with Christmas? (Have you seen "The Devil wears Prada"? Hmm ...)

It seems the spirit of the season is all about shopping, tourists, lights, presents, expensive dinners and so on. Every year, the commercialisation of this celebration is brought to new heights to encourage consumer spending and business.

This is all fine - but we are called to look above this and to remember why we have Christmas in the first place. The first one took place over 2000 years ago and there were no flashing lights, posh gifts (except maybe those from the wise men) and loud music (except maybe the angels singing).

Let us remember to love each other and be at peace with mankind. This time, let us be the bulbs - especially for our children and families. Let us be bright, warm, and life-giving.
