Making Memories
Do you remember your childhood memories? Glimpses into your young days with your mum and dad? Little bits and pieces of dreamy stuff that could either be a dream or youth?
I remember sitting in the back seat on long drives up to Malaysia, listening to Abba and Boney M. I remember trips to the beach and my dog Pat. There was a time I was facinated by pigeons and bulldozer equipment and I would stare out the window and the neighbour's house being constructed. These memory clips, randomly stored, are disjointed, fragmented and have no timestamps. However, they are there for retrieval - and if I try hard enough, I can remember more. Some of them are in black and white - colour wasn't invented back then yet :)
We have the chance to manufacture these memories for our children now - and in 32 bit colour too!
Each chance we get to play with them, spending energy and time, is an opportunity to create these memory clips - video, audio and more (emotions, smells, sensory). These gigabytes of data would go into their storage systems to be retrieved at later stages in their lives as memories from their past - their childhood, just as we do with ours.
Don't waste the chances you have to form these glimpses - even the simplest activities like reading a book or running around the sofa. You have a chance to star in their memory movies - what role do you want to play?
