Krabi, Thailand 6-11 Sep'06
We just came back from our short break in Krabi & it was fun enough for me to say I won't mind bringing the kids for another break like this again! Initially, I was worried that we would not be able to handle the 2 kids on our own (grandparents were around to help on our previous trips) but it turned out fine. The 2 of us had to do our part in caring for the kids (feed, change, keep an eye on etc.) but it wasn't too difficult as we had extra help from Debbie & Mervin too! Thanks guys!
For our room, we asked for a cot, hoping Shanny would sleep in it & leave us & Nigel on the bed but she refused & in the end, it was Nigel, who after much persuasion, agreed to sleep in the cot instead! Good thing he isn't as stubborn as his sister!
Every morning, Nigel would be the first to wake (around 6ish Thai time) & I would make him sit & eat his breakfast in the balcony overlooking the pool. While he eats, I would be busy getting things ready for the day ahead (elephant rides, beach, etc.) Buffet breakfast is provided in our resort, Krabi La Playa so we usually try to get there by 8.45 - 9am. As we had connecting rooms, they doubled as playgrounds for the kids to run around in (good thing the rooms were huge too!)
This was supposed to be the rainy season till Nov but thank God we had near perfect weather the whole time! Out of the 6 days we were there, it only rained 1 evening & 1 morning (we had to change our elephant ride to the next day) & it was blazing sun for the rest of the trip! You should see how burnt the 4 of us looked (even with sunblock lotion!)
Couple of advices for all who're thinking of planning a beach resort trip: -
1. bring mosquito repellents (for resort room & body)
2. bring & use sunblock!!!
3. bring hats & sunglasses
4. wear covered tops if you don't want to get burnt!
All in all, I had fun & frankly, I'm looking forward to the next trip already!
