Keeping Up with Kids

Looking after children is a tiring job, I admit it. So, instead of trying to enforce a certain amount of discipline, shouting with a "DO THIS! DON'T DO THAT!" type of attitude, we can try to embrace their naughty behaviour. Become one of them, in fact, become naughtier then them. Become SO naughty that they will be telling you "DADDY! DON'T DO THAT, DON'T BE NAUGHTY".

Dream on! Things would, in reality, spiral into chaos and soon there will be bits of string spinning from the fan, balls bouncing out on the porch and young babies crying (next door).

Embrace, as in understanding that kids will be kids, children will be children and eventually the screaming and shouting will go away, eventually.

Here's a nice quote on growing up from a book I am currently reading (The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell and Distin Thomson - thanks Chua).
Adulthood is a glacier encroaching quietly on youth. When it arrives, the stamp of childhood suddenly freezes, capturing us for good in the image of our last act, the pose we struck when the ice of age set in.
When was the moment we exited our childhoods and passed it on to our offspring?
